Home Security Features - July 27, 2008

Having a secure protected home is important. Burglary is common in the United States where people everywhere can be targets everyday.

Tips and advice: security can save a life, which could be keys for you to a safer future. If you are leaving your home, always make sure your doors are locked; windows etc… and get Crime Watch put on your door so neighbors can keep the eye on your area.

In addition, remember that if you encounter someone who has broken into your house, violence is always the last resort. Call 911 for your phone set immediately. Don’t forget to stay calm and if you don’t have a house phone you should get one or otherwise get family plan cell phone just in case the kids are home alone. NOTE: All laws state that if someone breaks in your home, has a weapon with the intent to cause great bodily harm, you have the right to protect yourself. If you cannot prove break in, intent, and that the perpetrator has a weapon and you cause harm and/or death, you may face penalties.

Sometimes it might be too late to call 911. If a perpetrator breaks in your home, with intent, and has a weapon, you can protect yourself, however, if you do not kill the perpetrator, you may face penalty as well. IT is your word against the perpetrators. Check your state laws, since the laws change rapidly.

You should get ADT brinks system or some other device installed in your home because when criminal activity occurs, your system could go off and the cops will come quicker. In addition, the criminals most likely will run. Eventually the ‘bad guys’ will be captured if more people adhere to safety rules.

A home security system isn’t just for citizens in high-crime areas. For suburban homes where the whole neighborhood seems to empty during the day, a security system may be a good choice. A simple home security system set-up, equipped with a good camera, can do much in protecting your house. You can use it to see who is at the door before opening, you can keep an eye on driveways to watch vehicles and equipment and most importantly you can check on any trespassers. A home security system can save you money on your home owner’s insurance costs.

Thieves usually are after jewelry or money, so buy a safe or a vault. It would be harder to find if your belongings are stashed, and by the time, it is found they need to break the combination or lock. Carrying the safe or vault out is likely to be seen which some one will call the police.

Another way to protect your home is to have a silent alarm. While they are busy ransacking your home, the cops will be on their way. While the criminals are running out, cops are surrounding the house, which means the criminals are likely to go to jail. In addition, the cops will probably be at your home before you get out of the house.

Camera vision is great, yet anything is possible. It is a good strategy to have multiple cameras set up. For instance, have one or two setup inside and outside of the house. You could have an alarm installed on the camera so it faces you. The loud siren alert will draw attention to any and everyone around.

Thinking ahead is smart. If you are away from your home, ask neighbors, family, or friends to keep an eye on your place. Inform the watchers to dial 911 in the event strange actions occur around your home. Think sensibly and logically. Criminals tend to think they are slick. If they feel you don’t care, neither will they care. The ultimate rule of thumb is to think like a criminal. If you want to protect your homeHealth Fitness Articles, set up a safeguard that defends against criminal activity and you will save face.

500 Million People Worldwide have it, do you? - May 12, 2008

The shocking fact that one in 12 people have Hepatitis is becoming more and more of an issue as World Hepatitis Day draws closer. The idea of World Hepatitis Day is to increase awareness of the disease and ensure people know the causes and treatments available. This disease kills over 1.5 million people each year and this is mainly down to the fact that most of the 500 million people that have this disease are actually unaware they do. The symptoms are sometimes inexistent and most of the time are similar to colds and flu and because people are unaware of the risks and causes of the disease it goes unnoticed and untreated. This is why the World Hepatitis Alliance has been trying to increase awareness and encourage people to get tested. The fourth World Hepatitis Day will be held on 19th May 2008 and is only the beginning of a huge campaign to increase awareness of this “silent killer”. Super Solutions for Gift Giving - April 15, 2008

Gift giving is a part of life. We give gifts for holidays, get well gifts, thinking about you today gifts, good luck, birthdays, religious occasions, graduations, teachers, people who have given us service and on and on. It is a fun part of what we do in our lives but can it be a hassle.

There are some gifts we give we know from year to year we are going to need yet we scramble at the last minute to buy the gift, get it wrapped and delivered. (Have you ever thought, “It’s your birthday again”?) With a little planning and preparation these stressful situations of giving a gift can be avoided. Here are six simple tips to make gift giving pleasurable.

Have one central place for gifts. It could be in an under the bed container, a closet, a basket, anywhere handy yet not in your way. When you purchase a gift you know right where its designated place is and when you need it you don’t have to go searching. If it is for a family member and needs to be hidden on top of the closet shelf may be an option.

When you are out shopping, keep your eyes open for good buys so you will have a nice selection of gifts when one is needed in a hurry. These could include picture frames, candles, books, toys, bath products and so forth. Shop the sales to take the stress out of your budget.

Make a list in your planner of who you plan on buying gifts for during the year. When you buy a gift for them, write down what you bought and where you put it. This works for Christmas gifts as well. When shopping the sales after Christmas make a list of who you have bought gifts for and where you are storing them for the next year. (Don’t assume you will remember).

Another way to shop is through catalogs. There are catalogs on line as well as those that come in the mail to peruse through and select the perfect gift. Ordering from a catalog saves time, the hassle of driving, shopping, parking and hauling things home. One of my favorite things is getting packages in the mail even if they are for someone else. Be sure to recycle outdated catalogs and if you get more catalogs than you want go to www.Catalogchoice.org This is a free service that lets you decline paper catalogs you no longer wish to receive. It reduces the amount of unsolicited mail in your mail box, while it helps to preserve the environment.

Have a designated place for gift wrap, ribbons and gift bags. Consider limiting yourself to one or two kinds of wrapping paper and ribbon. Use patterns and colors that are generic for any gift giving occasion. It could be a solid color and then dress it up with ribbon. There are special containers made to stand paper wrap in with a place for ribbon, gift tags, tape and scissors. Or buy a sturdy laundry bag that can be hung in a closet to hold rolls of paper.

Another idea is to consider gift certificates. Keep things simple and remember people just like to be remembered, it is the thought that counts.
